The Sock Mystery

The mystery of what happens to the mate of a single sock starts early. Below is a sample of Louis’s loner socks. And even though it looks like Louis is wearing matching white socks, in fact they are different thicknesses, and I can’t find the mate for either one. What’s remarkable is how quickly this happened, especially when his socks are distinctive and easy to match.

(One confession: I think I’m responsible for losing the stripped sock back when we were regularly putting socks on his hands as gloves.)

And here’s a cute picture of Louis just because.

  1. It is so true. Babies lose way more than their fair share of socks. Why can't they keep them on their feet? I think they are sock dropping whenever they are out and about. On another note: That sweater is really cute.

  2. Evelyn likes to wear socks on her hands and you can always put them on dolls but if you are OCD like me you won't be able to let him wear them - of course I think you could do 2 different colors of the shoe one - kind of a funky remix

  3. This is such a disturbing mystery. Your next dissertation should look into it. When mankind finds the answer, we will probably also find a lot of un-matched socks. The mates will have long since either worn out, been thrown away or turned into monkey dolls.

  4. I love the just because face!! Hahaha my favorite thing about Louis is when he makes his little zoned out and surprised expression. I also find it hilarious that you used his socks as gloves-- so clever.
