Cereal

This week Louis tried his first solid foods. First he tried some rice cereal and a couple days later he tried sweet potatoes. We only mix up about a tablespoon of food but it’s anyone’s guess how much makes it in his mouth. He seems pretty interested in the food and I think he wants it to go in his mouth but his tongue gets in the way.

Bumbo

Louis turned four months old on Thursday and he is getting stronger by the day. This weekend we bought him a new seat so he can practice sitting up. So far it seems like he enjoys being able to sit up on his own. (Hopefully this will help with the bald spot on the back of his head from the time he has spent lying on his back.)

We had seen these "Bumbo" seats around but didn't know much about them. Turns out that they are made in South Africa and they donate profits to charity.

The Sock Mystery

The mystery of what happens to the mate of a single sock starts early. Below is a sample of Louis’s loner socks. And even though it looks like Louis is wearing matching white socks, in fact they are different thicknesses, and I can’t find the mate for either one. What’s remarkable is how quickly this happened, especially when his socks are distinctive and easy to match.

(One confession: I think I’m responsible for losing the stripped sock back when we were regularly putting socks on his hands as gloves.)
