Louis visits cousins

Louis traveled to Cleveland where he got to meet and visit again with several cousins. The first stop was Chippewa Lake where Louis hung out with Tyler, who is only a week or two older than Louis.

Louis also visited with Tyler’s older sister Elise. She was very gentle with the babies and gave them both hugs and kisses.

Cameron is not in the pictures above because he was having fun playing with a truck.

After a day at the lake, we headed back to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Lilly stopped by with newborn baby Ayden. He is already so big and we hear he is a good sleeper.

Evelyn spent the night so she could play with “Baby Louis” before bed and in the morning. She played toys with Louis, fed him some baby food, and held him in her lap. In the picture below I think she is showing Louis how to clap. Unfortunately Louis is a drool-y mess in all these pictures. Evelyn has a temporary tattoo on her arm from her visit to Thomas the Train in Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

On Sunday, the sisters Emily, Molly and Claire stopped by for a visit. It was Molly’s 3rd birthday.IMG_4617IMG_4615

Besides visiting cousins, Louis also really enjoyed seeing the dog Bella. When she came near he kicked his legs and flapped his arms with excitement.

Tar Heel

We traveled to Chapel Hill, NC for graduation on Saturday, May 12th. The hooding ceremony was held in the Dean Smith Center, where the basketball team plays. As you can see in the photos, the school color of “Carolina blue” is very prominent. There were probably a couple hundred PhD candidates, and most had an advisor with them, so there were almost as many people seated on the floor as there were guests in the bleachers.

In the photo below I’m walking to the stairs after being hooded by my advisor, who is walking right behind me. (The “hood” is the velvet sash that goes around the neck and hangs down the back.)

After graduation we had lunch in Chapel Hill and then drove back to D.C. We stopped for a couple hours in Richmond, VA to break up the drive.

The next day was Mother’s Day and we celebrated by taking a walk to the park. We put Louis in the swing again to take some more pictures of him having fun.

Moira walks and Louis swings

This weekend the MacDonald Spencer family stopped by for a visit. Since we last saw baby Moira she has learned how to walk. We went to a nearby park and took lots of cute photos of our babies. Below are some of our favorites of Moira and her family. Moira really enjoyed playing on the slides.

Louis has been trying to walk but he’s still a few months away.
