Louis and Bella

It wouldn’t be surprising if Louis’s first word was “dog” because dogs are a consistent source of excitement for him. He really likes Bella (pictured below). Unlike dogs we see on the sidewalk in our neighborhood, Louis gets close enough to Bella to touch her and Bella gets close enough to lick his cheeks. Louis can’t decide if being that close to Bella is exciting-scary or exciting-thrilling. IMG_5416IMG_5398
Louis also really enjoys rides in the red plastic car and green wagon that Grandma Laurie and Grandpa Brian have at their house.

We were only in Cleveland for a short visit to attend a wedding, but we had time to go visit Great-Grandma Russell. Even though it was close to nap-time Louis put on a good show and showed Grandma how close he is to walking.  They look so cute together.

H Street Festival

Last weekend we went to the H Street Festival (a neighborhood near Union Square). There was live music, food, and art. We stopped to listen to a duo playing children’s songs and Louis “danced” along (moving his hips back and forth while holding onto the railing). In the third picture I think Louis was excited to be looking at a dog.

This festival also had a few less common festival sightings such as the Baltimore Rock Opera. I really don’t understand what this organization is all about. When we walked by their booth someone was talking into a microphone trying to convince bystanders to enter a competition to “rock out” (presumably play air guitar?) on a small stage. Apparently part of rock opera involves wearing strange costumes, such as this monster pictured below. Can you blame Louis for being scared of it?

I should mention that we heard about the date of the festival from our friend Amanda (pictured below from when she babysat Louis for our anniversary). Amanda also rock climbs and is patient enough to help with Louis so we can take turns climbing.

Almost Walking

It's so much fun to watch Louis practice walking. It's clear he's excited by this new mobility. He can walk holding just one of our hands and he can stand on his own for a couple seconds.
