January 2014

Andrew turned five months old today.  He is a champion sleeper at night – falls asleep by himself and only wakes up once during the night. His daytime naps are a little less predictable. He sleeps for a half hour at a time. four or five times during the day. We have introduced a few foods and Andrew is very slowly getting the hang of it. Here is Andrew enjoying some peas during a recent weekend visit from his Aunt Katie.IMG_7197IMG_7201IMG_7196IMG_7195

Below is a video of Andrew from early December, when he was about three months old, and video from this past weekend.

This past week Louis decided he was going to sleep in his “big kid” twin bed that we placed on the floor. He also decided he would let Andrew sleep in the crib. So in one day Louis went from sleeping in a crib to sleeping in a twin bed and sharing the room with his brother. We are shocked at how easy the transition was. Louis has woken up up once or twice at night but it hasn’t been too hard to get him to go back to sleep.

Louis also got a new pair of running shoes that he is really excited about. He was so excited that on the first night he insisted the shoes spend the night near his head. On the second night he insisted on sleeping in his shoes. We heard him wake up in the night and his shoes went running down the hallway. (I think he thought it was time to get up and we were in the kitchen or living room.) We put him back in bed, still wearing shoes.

Below are two recent videos of Louis. The first is from Christmas and the next is from last weekend when Katie was in town.

Christmas

We flew to Cleveland for a week including Christmas. While in Cleveland we visited with cousins from the Mountford side, the Russell side, and lots of friends. Here is a picture of Santa’s visit to the Russell party on Christmas Eve. Great Grandma Russell is on the left and Santa’s Elves (Laura Lynn and Jill) are behind Ashley and Andrew. Santa sure does look familiar…IMG_7118
After the guests left, Andrew and Louis prepared for Santa’s visit by wearing their adorable matching reindeer pajamas.IMG_7139
On Christmas morning Louis was thrilled to discover his new train set. He also got lots of other toys, which he adored.

Towards the bottom of the pile of presents he unwrapped a book from his mom to encourage an interest in potty training, which he made clear he did not appreciate. (“No books!” “More toys!”)IMG_7178
One of Matt’s gifts was a replacement Miami sweatshirt, which made for a nice photo opportunity.IMG_7175
After a week of parties in Cleveland it was time to return home to Denver. Louis’s and Andrew’s cousins were in town. All three girls were very excited to meet Andrew for the first time and each wanted a turn giving Andrew a bottle, particularly Evelyn. Below are pictures of Alice and Norah helping Grandpa Dean feed Andrew.

Louis loved playing with “my cousins” despite the occasional competition for toys and parent attention. We can’t wait to have the cousins over again as soon as possible.
Below are two videos showing how easy and smiley Andrew is.  The first video is from early December and the second was taken with Lindsey’s phone during their visit.

Photos from November

We spent a lovely Thanksgiving at Grandparents Brooks’s house along with Carolyn and Tom, Ben and his daughters, and Natalie. The day after Thanksgiving we went on a hike with Natalie and Grandma and Grandpa Brooks. Here are a couple pictures from that sunny and warm day. IMG_7024IMG_7019

Here are a couple cute pictures of bath time from the same week.IMG_7008IMG_7005IMG_7004
