We had a lovely party to celebrate Louis’s 3rd birthday. We invited our neighborhood friends over to a harvest/Cars themed party. Louis got lots of awesome toys (mostly cars). His cake featured Lighting McQueen. Grandma Lorraine and Matt helped decorate the cake.
Copper seemed to enjoy the party too.
Louis’s best friend from school Luca came to the party. They enjoyed jumping in the leaves.

We adopted Copper in early October. He is a 2 year old terrier mix.
Of our family members, Andrew loves Copper the most, or at least he is the most interested in what Cooper is doing or eating. It’s impossible for Copper to eat if Andrew is around. And Copper won’t eat if Andrew is in his high chair because he is too distracted by what might be falling from his tray, on purpose or on accident.
Copper is very tolerant of Andrew hugging, kissing, and pulling on him.
These two videos were taken back to back and illustrate Andrew’s interest in Copper and Copper’s patience. (There is something wrong with my audio at the end, but the video is too cute to delete it for that flaw).
Matt traveled to D.C. for the annual fall harvest of the White House garden. Michelle Obama was in attendance.
Andrew loves picking and eating cherry tomatoes and strawberries of any stage of ripeness.
2014 was a good year for basil. We turned most of ours into pesto and froze it.
We went to Cleveland over Labor Day weekend and Andrew was able to celebrate his 1st birthday with lots of family. This video is from a party at Brian and Laurie’s house where almost all of Laurie’s side of the family was in attendance. Andrew has so many cousins!
Everyone but Louis loved the water slide.
Gaga and Papa bought two matching motorized cars that the boys loved.
Matt also had a first that weekend – riding a tall bike!
Our family and Grandma and Grandpa Brooks headed to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs in early August. Not only was it Ashley’s birthday, but it was the right time of year to sit in the river where the hot water mixes with the cold mountain water. People had stacked up rocks to make pools of just the right temperature.
Our campsite had a beautiful view of a mountain side.
Everyone enjoyed our time at the campsite.
On our way out of Mt. Princeton we stopped at a mining town where the chipmunks were eager to be fed.
